I took a look at the descriptions of both covers and there is a difference in the wording in English as well as in German (my French is abominable,so it won't be of any help) that says what they do. The one with the flap has a magnet that enables the sleep/wake function. The plain one has a magnet that closes the cover and enables the sleep/wake function.

I am sure it will stay closed. Even in your bag. FWIW I never heard of a cover that wouldn't (as long as it is intact).

ETA They have a 100% satisfied or money back garantuee anyway.
