No to abridgments. If I'm going to invest my time, I want the whole thing. I will admit to avoiding various classics, especially, because of the time involved, but generally they're books that I already kinda-sorta know, in broad outline at least, and the reason for feeling I should read them is to flesh out the story, not to get a condensed version.
