I paid a lot more than that for my HD6 (pre-order at launch) and I don't regret it. I love the size, and it's much more valuable to me, now that I've discovered I can tolerate text to speech, and only the Fire tablets have the full variety of voices for Kindle books. I'm listening to one now...just released, and I don't want to wait for the audio to come out next month.
Sort of on-topic, as the same comments about TTS can be applied to the new Fire HD8. I haven't tried TTS on my original HD8 yet, as of course, the 6" is more portable.
