Some have taken extreme steps to solve the problem. I've personally disabled every auto feature I could find, eventually had to edit a configuration file (which I shouldn't have to do). But others have had to reset their device multiple times. They have blocked wifi. They have resynced their device using the pc only (neither of which they should have to do). They have deleted their third party ebooks.

There is more than one thread asking "where is the firmware update?" How have you logged into the forum and not seen any of this??
Depends on who you are including in "we". Editing config files? I do that on a regular basis for adding such items as enabling screen shots and disabling the swipe along the left edge to change brightness. Adding one more line is not a big deal to me.

Using patches? Been doing that for years. GeoffR has done an excellent job of maintaining and extending Metazoa's patches and added very useful items such as alternative keyboards.

Am I waiting for the next firmware update? Yes. Am I getting anxious over the wait? No. I've seen the results of too many rush jobs over the years.

As for my personal experience with my KA1? I'm pretty happy with it as a reading device. Even with the auto-sync disable, the battery life could be better but then we're moving more pixels with less battery so hardly an unexpected result.
