The change from 212 ppi to 300 ppi was a major change for those of us who read at small font sizes, or even at sizes that would be comparable to physical pocketbook font sizes.
It's a negligible change if one reads at huge font sizes.
In the greater scheme of things, saying that it wasn't a major change is akin to a person who only reads outdoors in the afternoon claiming that an ereader frontlight isn't a major change.
