She should or shouldn't drive you to the vet, or not, based on *YOU* making that request. The cat shouldn't be a deciding factor for her. (edit: that sentence was really %%^@^. Fixed.)

That's bad. A cat is not a human. Therefore it isn't guaranteed that medicine that does X for humans, will do X for cats. You were right not to give it to her.
