Ah . . . . okay, that's important to a segment of the country's population. Not a national holiday, though.

I live in Florida. There are very few Jews in my immediate vicinity, but there is a large percentage on and near the southeast coast in places such as West Palm Beach. A large regional grocery chain (Publix) always devotes a significant amount of space in their flyers, around Jewish holidays, to Jewish foods.

Some of the "buzz," that I heard and/or saw, about today being a holiday (without being specific about which one) might have been related to that.

It may be Beethoven's birthday, too. See my posts above.
