I'd suspect this would require patching the librmsdk.so.1.0.0 file. The other option is to change the epubs to kepub. Changing the type can be done on the fly when the epub is sent to your device or in your Calibre library depending on how you want to set it up.

I admit the switch to two colums is not something that bothers me as these old eyes are not happy reading with such small font sizes.
