Thanking you both very much. I did find the line eventually by doing a "find" on Sync. It had moved down the bottom of the .conf file. But having a non-Kobo site to get updates from is excellent! I would still like to know if it is safe to remove the

lastLibraryReadingStatusFilter_shelf_filterByBooks shelf%28Foreigner%20Short%20Stories%29=removeReadi n gStatusFilter()

lines?
