Ok. Let's start over. Since as crane pointed out, there are several different mini USB to HDMI cables, which one didn't work with yours.

Let's ask the person asking about the adapter, his exact OS and firmware since he has the brand new one.

I just looked at Amazon. This thread is not about the fifth generation Fires. This is about the ones that just came out.
And wow, the older one is $60 more than the new one.
