There are two patches for the footer. One eliminates the footer, the other reduces the size. Did you enable Disable reading footer or Custom reading footer style? Below is how I have them set.

# The following two patches are alternatives, don't enable both at once.
#
# `Disable reading footer`
# `Custom reading footer style`
#

patch_name = `Disable reading footer`
patch_enable = `no`

patch_name = `Custom reading footer style`
patch_enable = `yes`
