Tags here as well, but I only put items on hold at one library, and usually the one with the longest wait, because there are so many books that are available for checkout that I can fill the time easily.
And, with several of my libraries having far more checkout slots than hold slots, the number of holds is a more limiting factor for me.

I also created a custom "Series" column that I use to track desired order to borrow/hold, so if I do run low on slots, I can pick from the top of the list.
If you are worried about return dates and getting to books, you could add a custom date column if you want the exact due date tracked.
