The putting DO_FACTORY_RESTORE filename on the root of visible USB storage is not magic, you have to reboot the Kindle while it is there.
Try that, and if it does not fix it, answer the above questions in your next post.

Did you read the post at the link you included?
Did you see the part where it is for the Kindle Touch? (KT, K5)
