We also have a Kindle Oasis. That thing just blazes compared to either Kobo reader. The bigger screen and more useful user interface of the Kobo are great but what the heck did they do with the firmware?  |
Rather odd. I just did a side by side compare of an Aura HD, Aura H2O and Aura One with the same firmware revision, the same copy of the ebook I tested with loaded to the internal storage. I set the font, font size, line spacing, etc. to put the same amount of text on each screen.
The Aura One seems to boot faster the either the HD or the H2O which makes sense since it's internal fixed storage should be faster than the uSD cards used by the HD and H2O.
I found the page turn times on all three were close enough that I could see no consistent difference though I felt the One was slightly faster but then it's the newer toy.
If I changed the font size to use the same font size on each, the Aura One put more text on each page requiring fewer page turns with no change I could notice in the speed of the page changes.
Oddly, the reviews I found that compared the Oasis to the Aura One tended ot use phrases like: "Both configurations led to a decent performance speed, with negligible difference between the two."
