If you want to see how epub 3 metadata is written simply add an epub 3 file to calibre and use save to disk. The metadata you set in calibre will be saved in epub 3 form in the output file.
Thanks, that did it. Am I correct in thinking that the difference between Convert Book & Save to Disk, is that Convert Book outputs an ePub 2 (with css/html conversion options), whereas Save to Disk will output the original ePub, but with Calibre's metadata added?
