My Android Google Play Books application is listed as version 3.9.49, by the way.
Google Books Android app on Lollipop on my LG phone. The web/browser app doesn't have ads, at least not yet. They may be slowly rolling this out to Android. On updated Android apps you will find "Discover" on the drop down window on the left in Google Books, which should mean that is the updated app version I'm talking about. And again, not showing up on my own uploaded books, just on purchased books bought in Google Play Books.
