As far as I am aware, the Ink Pad and Ink Pad 2 use the same eInk Pearl display. The Aura One's Carta screen is the newer technology (improved contrast, whatever else the manufacturer wanted to claim).

Both Kobo and Pocketbook use a customized Linux as their OS though I've seen one review which stated that Pocketbook is using Android which I had thought was only on their LCD tablets.

The Aura One is $250Cdn while the quick search for the price on the Ink Pad 2 came up with 199Euro (equivalent to $293Cdn) plus whatever the shipping would be from pocketbook.de so I felt a fair comparison to the pricing for the Aura One on Kobo's site. Compared to the Oasis which shows up on Amazon.ca for $400Cdn (adding 3g takes it to $500Cdn), either could be considered a bargain.
