Hope you managed to get the books to show up!
I myself have made it a rule to return stuff that is not working as expected (used to be the norm for most people, not anymore I think). As the Aura One (for you) apparently isn’t, you might want to do that. I had a hard time myself sticking to that rule because the display (size and clarity) in daylight is just so gorgeous.
But in the end, I still was too annoyed with everything else to justify keeping the device hoping that Kobo would come around to fixing everything (and some things are unfixable by software alone, e.g. the uneven red light), especially knowing that Kobo is notorious for introducing new bugs and problems with new iterations of their firmware (that’s at least the experience I made with my H2O).
In the end, it is also a matter of value: I might have kept the device around if it was perhaps a hundred quid, but sinking more than that into something on the vague hope that after a year or two, it might perform the way it was supposed to is not something that I want to do anymore.
Side note: I am actually (secretly ) considering going to the store after the next firmware update to see if it works better now (and if I can get one that has even comfort light and no click in the lower part of the backplate), but I am unsure whether that is time well spent...
