It seems to be somewhat common. I have a fairly large gap on the right side (the other sides have absolutely no visible gaps).
It seems that water can definitely go through the gaps and reach the internals, at least in my case.

This technically shouldn't be an issue because the internals are supposedly protected from liquids by a hydrophobic nanocoating.
