From what I've seen online, the problem presents itself only with newer devices. I have a Paperwhite 3 and even with the recent updates I'm still experiencing the blue screen problem, unfortunately. Thankfully I don't use it that much, but if it were my main ereader and I sideloaded I would be very annoyed by now.
