If you can run the ActivePerl version it is very easy to enable the debug print outs in mobi2mobi to see were it hangs.
I shall try. Maybe the palm modules you mention could be the right way. I'll let you know.

Verified. I have p5-Palm site 1.009. Is it the right version ?
