Yes, that's how a sleep cover works. But with the Aura one, either 1) the magnets are very small or 2) the software isn't very sensitive. It's unacceptable to have the sleep cover not work unless it's closed with <.125" tolerance. Especially when it's the "offical" cover and I paid $50. I'll wait for the cheaper 3rd party ones and hope that this is a magnet size issue (I assume this is the case since the software for magnetic sensors is usually a binary on/off type of deal).
