Yup, that should have been the only thing needed according to your description of the problem.
MrPI is required on 5.6, 5.7 and 5.8 customer firmwares.
Installing a package at the root of visible storage with UYK menu is an exception only in the jail break procedure using the factory firmwares.
Otherwise, that method is dead and gone. (which is one of the things that delayed our finding a working way to jb these newer devices).
