On the KA1 go to settings> reading settings>reading progress>Display progress for- select Entire book>Display progress as: Page number.

At the bottom of the screen it does say: *Note: some books will not be able to display chapter progress. Book progress will be displayed instead.

I'm reading OD books pretty much exclusively, (ePubs) so don't know if there would be a difference for purchased books from other sources.
