No, not really; the roundabouts have bike paths running on the outside. Getting onto the sidewalk, crossing the street, and then getting off the sidewalk again would be quite impractical.

I've looked into walking to work, but 10km is about 1.5-2 hours of walking. That's not going to happen. Then I'd rather sit in public transport for 1-1.5 hours and read a book.

I don't mind traveling, or being in a bus, train, or a coach for that matter. What I hate is the fact that I can't just depart at the time I want, and that I'd need to wait half an hour if I miss a connection. Here in the less busy south part of the country, there's often only going one bus to one location.
