The thickest cover I've ever had is one from Noreve, but that is for the h2o, which has the raised bezels. Doubt they have one for the KA1 yet. Maybe you need something more padded to carry it in over the fitted cover, then take it out of the outer protector to read. Not that I'm suggesting it wouldn't be safe in just the kobo cover, but I wouldn't want to be the one to say it was.
Even slipping it into a bubble-pak mailer would add more cushioned protection.
