I did a test file to see more or less systematically what was happening. (Content-wise the file is nonsense.)
General: I use Libre and odt files. I used only jpg files with the ext written as JPEG. Also everything was done in 72ppi resolution.
Results with three pictures:
1st one. Only the space appeared, where the picture should have been.
2nd one. Used a big 1152 X 892px file, which I reduced to a width of 6 inches, using no-wrap. Picture did appear with hint of the border at the bottom. Did not expand to original size (or even to the 8.5 X ll version that seems to be automatically produced) when I pressed “view image.”
3rd one. 768X450 px in the original. I reduced it to 3X4 inches. The picture appeared, but without the border. It did enlarge when I hit “view image.”
The conversion log showed no details.
