1) I think Erin's contemporaries are much more light hearted than her paranormals and are fun. Her most recent, Flat Out Sexy, was a blast (older woman, younger man - totally worked).
2) My favorite Susan Mallery is Irresistible. I liked the second book in the Bakery Sister series but I often find she's a hit or miss for me.
3) If you like contemporaries and the first person, try Kristan Higgins. I loved "Just One of the Guys" and her most recent release "Too Good to Be True" is also funny. Just don't read too many of hers right after the other. Her "voice" is too much the same from book to book.
4) Kathleen O'Reilly- Beyond Breathless and Sex, Straight Up are probably my favorites. Sex Straight Up was really interesting because it was one book in which it dealt with the 911 tragedy and the hero is a widower. There's a great line in the book in which the hero thinks that everytime he is ready to put away his past, the city (New York) won't let him because of their constant memorials and so on. O'Reilly also does a good job in exploring the struggles of a woman in defining herself while still letting go.
Also re: the Harlequin downloads, they are available all year and obviously they are still getting the kinks worked out.
(Loved Nine Coaches Waiting).
