My dad wasn't a big reader, but I knew he was fascinated by airplanes and wilderness adventures. I found several novels and biographies for him about 'bush pilots' and other adventurous airplane stories; and some reminiscences of WWII pilots.
He read ALL of those.
He preferred the non-fiction. Perhaps your husband would like some non-fiction about boat building or sailing adventures or something related?
