If he's dyslexic there may be certain fonts and/or backgrounds that work better for him than others. Most of the heavy readers I know who have dyslexia aren't too fond of the actual Open Dyslexic font, but they all have their own individual preferences. It just takes trial and error to find which one works best for that person.
I'm not sure which type of device he will be using, but it's something you may want to keep in mind.
