What mileage? The closest city of any size is Las Cruces, which is about 130 miles in driving distance.
Or are you suggesting Alamogordo is much
more than 100 miles from anywhere?
(Roswell AFB is relatively nearby. A friend who was stationed there in the Air Force points and laughs at people going on about "Area 51".)
