As already stated the issue here is not the hub. I mentioned the hub because in unpowered (or powered) state it fixes the problem and so adds information to my question.

My issue is with a direct connection from the Kobo to the Surface Book. An unpowered hub will not add power to a connection although it may alter the speed (in this case from native 3.0 to 2.0).

All I want to know is if anyone else has had trouble getting their Aura One to detect they are connected to a computer and provide the connect screen. If they do I can feel confident this is a firmware issue that will likely get fixed. I If not then it may be hardware and I will try to get it swapped out by Kobo.

I'm an IT support engineer of 10 years and programmer of 4. I just wanted a little help from fellow owners to narrow down a source of a problem. That's all.
