Is it just a matter of selecting the mode from the dropdown?

Will I have to do this every time a new firmware is released?

Well, I just did the easiest thing and used the dropdown and changed the entry to delete. I went into Calibre and removed a book. It seems ok. The book is not on the device or in either list (calibre or the Kobo).
