It will automatically use the ADE numbers and display your page number at the bottom of the screen based on that (so depending on font size you might change 2 or 3 screens before the current page number changes). This is independent of the side number displaying. They only display to indicate the line that represents the start of the indicated "virtual" page.
The page numbers used on epub (if you aren't using a hack) are always ADE and for whole book and none of the settings will change that (except if you display it as a percentage which will be based on the whole book).
