I was at Borders (San Francisco bay area) on Sunday, checked their readers display. 700 was attached to base, next to a dead 505 (hadn't been charged for long time). You couldn't turn the light on because the bottom part was attached to the base, no way to lift or move it. Not a good display.
I remembered this thread and asked them about their return policy for the reader. "As long as you do not authorize the reader with Sony software, we will exchange or take it back within 14 days". It didn't make much sense, if I authorize it, then I can de-authorize too. What does it have to do with returns/exchanges? Or how can they check it?
Then the lady starting promoting the 700. The best part: she kept saying it had an accelerometer and would automatically turn from portrait to landscape. When I mentioned that I had the reader for more than 2 months, without an accelerometer, she said I didn't know how to use it
Jesse, I'm glad you were able to return it.
