When you buy an ebook it is from "Kobo." I suspect that the "eReader Store" is a different entity from the "Kobo Books" website. That is why Kobo CS can't help, they don't have access to the Rakuten sales. Is it bad CS? Yes. But I can testify from my previous experience that it will work out okay.
The only really problematic post I have seen is one person, whose item got stuck because they thought the address was a PO box.
My guess would be, if it isn't already shipped, then it may not be until the 15th. It seems like they ran out of the first batch, since the Rakutan website now says "Available Sept. 15th" and even Chapters is saying will ship in 1-2 weeks.

The order confirmation email is from "Rakuten Kobo eReader Store," at least according to the sender name.
In that email it states:

However, the hyperlink takes you to Kobo's ebook store.
This somehow feels a little shady
Oh, and if it is delivered to my doorstep, the package gets stolen, how would I ever know?
