I needed to change the driver to use a different Python SQLite library that does support this journal mode. This was released in calibre 2.63.0.

What this means is that you cannot use a version of calibre before 2.63.0 on Windows with this firmware. You will also need the latest versions of the Kobo Utilities plugin and KoboTouchExtended driver if you use them.
As I am a luddite I am still using Win XP (yes, yes I know) and V2.0 of Calibre. All I am doing is using it to send books to the device and using the plugin to change a cover here and there, oh and make 'series' titles.

Am I out of luck here? will I have to use Calibre and then manually copy the books over?

Thanks,
