I was able to get home and open the package and sync my Kobo Account.
Inside the Box:
- Kobo Device
- USB Cable
- Booklets (Warranty, Start up, Kobo Reference)
If you own a Kobo before, you can see that the Aura One is the accumulation of all of previous Kobo successful designs.
The Aura One design is much lighter and more refined than my previous chunkier Aura HD reader.
There is no longer a physical sleep button. All the light settings are handled by the software.
Out of the 8 GB of storage about 6.8 GB is available.
If you have the light settings set to automatic, the light will stay on even if you are in a room with bright lights. I wonder if the battery will drain faster with the auto mode. You can switch the light settings to manual and change the light settings yourself.
Minor changes with the software. Some sections were removed or rearranged. The books previews are no longer found on the front screen, but under books. The storefront has been removed and replaced other links (Overview, Recommended, Top Picks, Categories, Related Reads).
The following names have been changed:
Library -> Read
Bookstore -> Browse
Extras -> Activity
I didn't buy the Aura One just to read books. No, if I wanted to do that I would stuck with my Kobo Glo.
The primary reason I got the Aura One is to read manga.
I can happily report that the
Aura One is the one eReader to read manga! The text boxes are readable now.
