For the patches you are talking about, they don't have to be removed before updating. The best way to remove those patches is to reinstall the firmware. Installing an upgrade will do the same thing.

Thank you for the information on patches - that was worrying me.
As for the sync, my problem is the device turns it back on every time I uncheck the auto sync. Hopefully the next upgrade will solve that, since I think it is the reason my device still bleeds some when sleeping.
