Kobo released two devices this week and only one has Overdrive. The two devices use exactly the same firmware, so they are quite capable of enabling function based on the hardware. And, because of the way they develop the firmware, they will already have it ready for the older devices.
Personally, I don't think it makes sense for Kobo not to enable Overdrive on the older devices, but it might be a few months before they do. Of course, Kobo might think they will sell more new devices if they don't enable Overdrive on the older devices.

As a non-Kobo-user, I bow to your superior knowledge.
But as someone interested in the market in general, I couldn't see why they wouldn't do so (selling more new devices goes against their previous track record of old-device goodwill AIUI)...
And as you said, they probably will, it might just take time....

Whatever, the poll is still kind of silly IMHO -- what exactly will it accomplish? Will Kobo suddenly add it because of the outcome of the poll?
