Many years ago, the dictionaries were owned by the "sreader" account ("secure reader"?), and the login account was "reader". At that time, you didn't have access to the files owned by "sreader" from a terminal. Then, a few years ago, the login account became "sreader", and you did have access. I wonder if it has switched back to "reader" again? Running the "whoami" command in the terminal will report the user name, and "ls -l /mnt" will show the ownership of the secure directory.

There was a discussion here a little while ago about whether it was possible to copy the dictionaries to another PocketBook device. Perhaps that scared PocketBook into closing them off again, even though it was thought to be unlikely that it was possible to do that.
