That all sounds good. Can you run calibre in debug mode and post the log? Right-click on the preferences button and select "Restart in debug mode". Calibre will restart and display a message about the mode and log. Connect the device and let the device jobs run and then close calibre. After that, the debug log will be displayed post all of that.
