Although I'd always advise the use of a cover for carrying ereaders (I mainly only use a sleeve and am just careful how I pack it), I don't ever have my ereader in a cover. I have small hands and I don't like the added bulk, even from the slimline cases. If anything, I'll use a silicone skin to give a better grip or more comfortable feel in my hand.

Even the two mini ereaders I have, while the Sony 350 slots neatly into its small, slim fitting case and is fine to keep in the case all the time for reading, the Kobo Mini case feels like its making the Mini twice as thick as it is, so it only ever gets used minus the cover.
