That's what I've been doing, and I also convert books so I have everything at least in Mobi and Epub formats. I don't even
use Epub right now, but if I ever need to I'll be set! I'm basically trying to plan for the future with that.
I didn't set up the metadata at first, but over time I realized I really needed the summaries for books, since I'd forget exactly what a book is about. And having the series info in there is also critical if you're planning to read a series in order. A bonus on that is I've discovered books and short stories that are parts of series I'd read, but I didn't know existed. So I found some extra stuff to read.
