That should be the relevant answer for what you asked previously and asked again in different words. I am personally not sure if Kindle for PC / Mac still works, because since KFX surfaced I am only using the download option for eink Kindles. (download and transfer via usb) myself. My calibre and any plugins for it are outdated, and I won't bother to upgrade until what I have stops working.
Edit: apparently K4PC still works, see post above mine.

All of the books we buy are not supposed to have DRM. That is why you disinfect them to be able to load on any of your devices. If they are already free of DRM, then you still need non KFX files to format shift for use on non KFX readers. The principle applies the same as DRMed books: download, import to calibre, organize, side load. Download and transfer via usb for eink devices still downloads the book as KF8 as of yesterday (last time I downloaded a book).
