Annoyance - Column Type Long Text

This is NOT a new behaviour, as far as I know it's been ever thus. Just that it's been annoying me lately - old age crotchetiness perhaps.

If I put an image in a long text custom column, and I display the column in the book list (so that I can edit the cells via F2) then when the mouse pointer traverses the cell the image is displayed momentarily in a popup window.

The image popup will 'stick' if the mouse pointer 'hovers' over the cell - providing the image is smaller than the monitor, if its bigger it pops up momentarily, move the mouse a tad and it and pops again.

If the column contains text it pops up as a modest tool tip, which is irritating but tolerable.

I normally cloak long text custom columns with a column icon, but that doesn't alter the behaviour.

Possible solutions: Don't do it at all. Make the popup optional. Increase the hover time before the image window pops up - maybe even make it tweakable, currently it appears to be instantaneous.

Not displaying the column in the book list is not an acceptable solution.

BR
