One of my co-workers had an issue with her Kindle (3rd gen keyboard if I remember correctly) where it froze and nothing we tried worked. Since it showed up as connected to a wireless access point, we just left it sitting in a desk for a week which (2 days after the wifi connection dropped). After charging for a couple of hours, it was again a happy camper.
That's the only occasion I've really missed a physical reset switch on an ereader.
