That's not a factory reset. That's basically just turning it off and on again. Same as the reset button on a PC, it forces a warm reboot without saving anything first.
I'm not sure how to do a factory reset of the original Kobo. From memory, with the WiFi, you hold the centre button down while turning it on. My guess is the original is the same.
In general the steps are:
- Charge the device for at least an hour.
- Hold the power switch in the off position for about 20 seconds.
- Hold the second button down while turning it on.
- Release the second button when the LED flashing changes or the screen changes.
"The second button" changes on each of the devices. For the devices with a light button, that is used, the Touch uses the home button, and the WiFi uses the centre button. For the one button devices, this step is replaced by holding the power button down and tapping the bottom corners.
If the above works, it should display screens about resetting the device and then you will need to do the setup again.
