APPARENTLY, THIS DIDN'T SAY WHAT I MEANT:
It's been my experience that books available for immediate renewal say, "Renewed", when I click the "Renew" link, and those I'll have to wait in queue for are placed on hold. If your library works similarly to mine, then once your book either expires or you return it, you'll have to wait for the one person ahead of you to either return the book or for that person's loan to expire. In short, don't return the book early if you want to continue reading it until it expires.

SO I EDITED IT AS FOLLOWS:
I didn't express myself well. To clarify - when I click "Renew":
1. If the book's available, then a "Renewed" note (or something to that effect displays)
2. If the book's unavailable, i.e., someone else has it on hold, then a "Request again" note (or something to that effect) is displayed, and than after clicking that link, I am put into the hold queue.

In short, don't return the book early if you want to continue reading it until it expires.
