This is exactly what I use it for and if I commuted daily or traveled a lot, it would certainly be worth the 3G price. However, most of my travels are to medical places and nearly all of them have wifi access sufficient for this purpose. However, I have learned to leave the historical fiction at home - I spend way too much time looking up the places/people referred to in stories.
